What you can do with the Barigadam Line Follower

The Barigadam Line Follower is a dual-sensor analog line detector powered from 5 V. It is tuned for lines about 20 mm wide and works best at a distance of roughly 5–30 mm above the surface, both for black-on-white and white-on-black tracks.

Typical projects

  • Classic line-following robots for competitions and practice.
  • Maze-solving and track navigation robots with analog PID control.
  • Industrial-style conveyors and triggers based on line marks.

Compatible controllers

  • Arduino Mega / Uno and similar 5 V boards (2× analog inputs).
  • Custom WRO-style controllers with analog input channels.
  • Other 3.3 V or 5 V controllers when wired according to the datasheet.

Best practices

  • Keep the sensor 5–30 mm above the surface for stable readings.
  • Tune thresholds and PID using the raw analog values from both outputs.
  • Avoid strong ambient IR sources and shiny surfaces, or shield the sensor mechanically.
